Hermanus, S. Africa, offers some of the best land-based
whale-watching around, with whales sometimes getting as close as 30 feet to the cliffs and rocks jutting into the bay. The town
boasts its own 'whale-crier' who alerts visitors to the presence of whales and their whereabouts.
